4, 5, 6, 8, 10 mm

Comes in blister packing

It’s a nice surprise to find that even branded twist drill bits can be highly affordable. The FISCH brand from Austria is a case in point. These drill bits made of tool steel have a centring point and cutting edges with spur-like functionality. They are suitable for soft woods such as pine and spruce. The recommended rpm is 1000 to 3000 rpm, with the speed decreasing as the drill bit diameter increases. The drill bits are suitable for all drilling jobs provided you do not expect perfectly machined bore hole edges. If your standards are higher in this respect, there is no alternative to twist drill bits with pronounced spur cutters.

An endpin that improves the sound

The BENDER carbon fiber endpin is extremely lightweight. The carbon tube endpin by itself weighs only 60 grams. Combined with the precision made button, it allows for a particularly balanced and harmonic, but at the same time open and well focused sound.

The button, as designed by cellist Klaus Bender, is a unique piece of mechanic engineering. It is made of aluminum, and it’s screwed into the cello instead of just push fitted. Thus the contact between cello and endpin is much tighter than with regular wooden or plastic endpieces.

The endpin is clamped with a fluted collet nut, which makes for comfortable loosening and tightening.

The KLAUS BENDER endpin with carbon tube offers a rich, warm sound with beautiful overtones.

Contents

1 carbon endpin for cello

1 aluminium end button

weight: appr. 150 g (endpin and button)

Our evaluation of the Carbon Fiber Cello Bender Spike

The Carbon Fiber Cello Bender Spike has been carefully evaluated by our team of experts at Grandi Liutai and represents an excellent solution for cellists seeking a high-quality spike for their instrument. This spike has been specifically designed to provide optimal stability and ergonomics during cello playability, and we are pleased to confirm that it is a product of the highest quality. The Carbon Fiber Cello Bender Spike is crafted from lightweight and durable materials, ensuring exceptional longevity and precision in performance. The carbon fiber shaft imparts remarkable rigidity and lightness to the spike, allowing for increased responsiveness and better transmission of bow vibrations to the instrument's body. We particularly appreciate the adjustability offered by this spike. The carbon fiber shaft allows for precise and easy adjustment of the angle and height of the spike, enabling cellists to find the most comfortable and appropriate position for their playing style. This feature is especially useful for accommodating individual preferences and technical requirements of each musician. Furthermore, the Carbon Fiber Cello Bender Spike provides a secure and comfortable grip thanks to its ergonomic design. The adjustment knob is easy to handle and offers precise control over the settings. Additionally, the combination of carbon fiber and other high-quality materials imparts a sense of solidity and stability during performance. In summary, the Carbon Fiber Cello Bender Spike is an excellent choice for cellists looking to enhance the stability, playability, and ergonomics of their instrument. Its carbon fiber construction, adjustability, and ergonomic design make it an ideal choice for achieving optimal performance and comfortable playability. We highly recommend the Carbon Fiber Cello Bender Spike to cellists of all experience levels seeking a high-quality spike for their instrument.

With its traditional design, where the user can adjust the cutting edge by turning the knurled screw in the back, this sharpening system is one of the most precise and easy-to-use on the market. Simply angle the edge of the plane blade or chisel blade with the sliding ""T-piece"", pull the blade out to your sharpening stone and tighten the clamping knob, now you can finely adjust the cutting angle with the rear micro-adjustment knob. With a few simple steps, you can get accurate and repeatable results. Using the setting gauge always gives you the same angle when grinding. The setting gauge is marked with the angles 20°, 25°, 30° and 35°. If you want a micro bevel on the edge, simply turn the knob further, one turn of the knob will move the angle just under one degree further.

Max. blade width 63 mm

Max. blade thickness 12.5 mm

With this set, you can create the traditional surface protection at home, accurately burnishing knife backs or other metal components. You can also touch up existing finishing, e.g. on rifle shafts, without any problems.

Burnishing creates a protective layer (patina) on a ferrous surface to protect against rust.

Content:

Ballistol Universal Oil, spray 50 ml

Ballistol Robla Cold Degreaser, spray 50 ml

Ballistol Klever Quick Burnishing, bottle 50 ml

2 pairs of nitril disposable gloves

2 goat hair brushes

2 lint-free care cloths

Burnishing is used for corrosion protection. In contrast to other processes, no additional layer is applied to the metal during burnishing, but a mixed oxide layer of FeO and Fe2O3 is created on the surface to protect against corrosion. During the burnishing process, the colour of the surface changes to black or dark blue.

To achieve an even result, the metal must first be treated with a degreaser and possibly also with fine steel wool (grit 00). Then you can start the actual burnishing at a temperature of 20-30 °C. Oil the burnished workpiece overnight to stabilise the burnishing.

Hazard statement

Extremely flammable aerosol. Pressurised container: May burst if heated. Causes skin irritation. May cause drowsiness or dizziness. Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. May be corrosive to metals. Harmful if swallowed.
Ideal for accurately burnishing knife backs or other metal components, as well as repairing existing burnishings, e.g. on rifle shafts.Burnishing creates a protective layer (patina) on a ferrous surface to protect against rust.

Burnishing is a means of corrosion protection. In contrast to other techniques, no additional layer is applied to the metal during burnishing, rather an anti-corrosive, mixed oxide layer of FeO and Fe2O3 is created on the surface. During the burnishing process, the colour of the surface changes to black or dark blue.

In order to achieve an even surface finish, the metal must first be treated with a degreaser and possibly also with fine steel wool (grit 00). Afterwards, the actual burnishing process can be started at a temperature of 20-30 °C. The finished workpiece should then be oiled overnight to stabilise the burnish.

Synthetic Nagura stone. Ideal for sharpening stones with a grit of 400/1000/3000/8000 or lower.

The Nagura is an optional stone that creates slurry on the sharpening stone. A Nagura ensures that the abrasive particles in the sharpening stone are released more easily and can also be used to give a coarser sharpening stone a finer finish. However, a Nagura not only produces slurry, it is also ideal for use after sharpening, as it is very good for cleaning the stone and removing metal particles that can stick to the sharpening stone and rust. Naniwa's synthetic Naguras are made from aluminium oxide.

The stones should be briefly immersed in water before use, but not constantly stored in water.

Generally suitable for all waterstones.

Dimensions 62 x 33 x 20 mm

Grit 180: green silicon carbide abrasive.

King/Sun Tiger

Matsunaga is one of the largest manufacturers of sharpening stones in Japan. In the West, these stones are usually known as King stones or Sun Tiger stones. The stones of the King or Sun Tiger series have a relatively soft bond, which allows the abrasives to be continually exposed during use, making the stone highly effective. These stones are particularly suitable for extremely hard, low-alloy carbon steels (White and Blue Paper Steel). Before use, soak the stones in water for at least 15 minutes. They can also be stored in water permanently. Green silicon carbide abrasive is used for 180 grit.

Thicker and longer lasting than the cream-coloured stones, but with equally good honing properties.

Belgian Coticule Whetstones

The quarrying of Belgian whetstones in the Ardennes is first mentioned in a Roman document. But the story of these natural honing stones goes further back than that. The approx. 480 million-year-old grey yellow sedimentary stones, originating from volcanic ash, are composed of very fine garnet crystals. During honing, these are released from the matrix and, in combination with water and abrasion debris, make a honing paste. The garnets only remove fine shavings from the metal and ensure a good polish. Unique combination of quick abrasive action and grain size.

Interesting fact: To produce 1 kg of sharpening stones approx. 1500 kg of cliff must be removed. The thin yellow slices are glued to a slate base and cut to size.

Quality of Natural Stones

For many years, the Belgian coticule and Arkansas stones have been synonymous with high-quality whetstones. But these stones are natural products. Due to limited resources, the quality of these stones may increasingly vary. Japanese waterstones with fine grain structures are recommended as an alternative.

Dimensions 100 x 40 x 6 mm

Shaping stone with good sharpening qualities. Silicon carbide abrasive.

Traditional Stone by Naniwa

This stone series is suitable for sharpening blunt knives and tool blades. The stone has a relatively hard bond, it therefore stays flat for a longer time. It is ideal for high-alloy tool steels, but also for low-alloy carbon steels. The tool steels made of alloy components with a coarse grain structure (e.g. chromium and vanadium) require a stone that does not wear quickly. Before use, soak the stone for at least 10 minutes.
Medium-grit lime sandstone from the Kumamoto region for general sharpening. Readily absorbs water, cuts well and easily produces a fine slurry.

Japanese Natural Stones

""A blade and sharpening stone must be as perfect a match as bride and groom"" according to legendary blacksmith, Shigeoshi Iwasaki. Finding the ideal pairing is no easy task in either case. Despite the excellent performance of synthetic stones, many experienced sharpeners still prefer natural stones for sharpening their finest blades. Japanese sharpening stones are particularly renowned for their effect to harmoniously sharpen hand-forged carbon steels. They can bring a blade’s full potential to the fore and allow the sharpening process itself to become a pleasant ritual. The finest stones from the Honyama quarries are becoming increasingly difficult to acquire - we take great pleasure in still being able to offer these rare treasures. Natural Japanese stones may only be used with water and must be kept protected from frost. The aim was to create a Japanese stone series suitable for both high-alloy tool steels and low-alloy carbon steels. This stone series has a medium-hard bond, which does not wear out quickly even with tool steels made of alloy components with a coarse grain structure (e.g. chromium and vanadium). This is noticeable when changing to finer grits: the traces from the previous grit are quickly ground out. A special bond allows quick sharpening on a flat surface. The sharpening stone has a base of tempered glass and is thus 100 % warp-free. Conventional sharpening stones may warp microscopically by absorbing water, but Shapton stones solve this problem with their extremely flat base of tempered glass.

Another advantage of the glass base is that the grit rating on the underside is always visible even after much use. Si consiglia di umettare i mezzi di affilatura diamantati con acqua e levigare con poca pressione.

* I diamanti monocristallini sono molto più stabili dei policristallini, che vengono utilizzati su utensili di taglio di qualità inferiore.

Dimensioni 311 x 117 x 57 m

Continuous surface diamond coating on compact base plate. Ideal for pointed tools or accurately trueing the backs of tools (extraordinary flatness). Rubber feet.

DMT Diamond Stones

The American manufacturer Diamond Machining Technology (DMT) is the founder of interrupted surface technology for diamond sharpening stones, and has been the market leader for diamond-coated sharpening equipment for years. The high-quality sharpening tools are manufactured at the company's headquarters in Massachusetts (USA).

Monocrystalline* diamond particles guarantee a long service life and excellent material removal

Uniform grit sizes and a dense diamond distribution for even grinding patterns

Round recesses prevent clogging due to grinding debris

Permanently flat and warp-free thanks to supporting plates made of steel or warp-free plastic with a nickel matrix

Colour coding of various grit sizes

100 % made in the USA

Monocrystalline* diamond-coated sharpening devices:

Diamond-coated sharpening devices remain permanently flat, and are especially suitable for tools with straight blades, as well as for producing flat surfaces (e.g. backs of plane and chisel blades, plane soles, scrapers). Also suitable for carbide coated cutters, tool steels, HSS and non-metal materials (glass, ceramic, etc.). We recommend moistening diamond-coated sharpening devices with water and grinding with little pressure.

* Monocrystalline diamonds are significantly more wear resistant than the polycrystalline diamonds used to make lower quality diamond sharpening tools.
