Well-suited for work with all hardwoods in the making of musical instruments as well as artistic carpentry and chair- and model making. With bodies of vibrant, grained Macassar ebony and polished brass caps, HSS blades (64 HRC). Flat, concave, convex, boat-shape, round-base.

Traditional Chinese Planes

'The basic design of the Chinese plane is similar to the Japanese Kanna. The major difference is that the Chinese plane can be used on either the pull or the push stroke, whereas the Japanese Kanna can only be used on the pull stroke. The larger Chinese planes have a cross-handle to facilitate push stroke use (which can be removed for use on the pull stroke). The blades are held in place using a wedge or cap. The slightly wave-shaped plane bodies are made of Indonesian redwood*. The uncoated surfaces are worked using scrapers and are polished. The plane blades are made of wear-resistant HSS (approx. 64 HRC), or forged carbon steel (approx. 58 HRC) for special-purpose planes, which make Chinese planes visually appealing and solid all-round tools. Unless otherwise stated, the blade angle is 40°.

* unless otherwise stated

Blade width 18 mm

Blade thickness 2.2 mm

Overall length 90 mm

The Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 is a special plane made in Germany by KUNZ (a leading authority in the design of woodworking tools) on the Stanley n. 112, where essentially a thick blunt scraper is inserted as if it were a blade to a plane with a wide sole.

Although generally a planed finish is always preferable to a scraped finish performed with a scraper, the Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 is particularly useful for finishing woods that do not perform well when planed or woods difficult to finish with the classic manual planers, like very flamed maple or poplar.

Scraper a wooden surface with the Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 is considerably easier and more efficient than using the classic manual scraper even if mounted on a support for scraper, as the Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 is more comfortable to hold and use. Moreover, having a wide, perfectly flat sole, it is able to compress the wooden fibers for a perfect scraping even of large surfaces.

The Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 has a body in solid gray cast iron subjected to an annealing heat treatment to achieve maximum dimensional stability and painted with the characteristic green epoxy resin that makes all KUNZ planes unique and inimitable.

The Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 features, instead of the typical blade of a plane, a special and thick (1.5 mm) scraper made of tool steel alloy tempered to a hardness of 62 HRC (Hardness Rockwell Cone) and sharpened. The scraper blade of the Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 has, unlike the manual scraper, a 25 ° sharp bevel that guarantees a greater scraping capacity.

In the Scraper Plane KUNZ n.112 the blade-scraper is fixed on a tilting system controlled by an iron rod which allows to adjust the inclination and therefore the working angle of the plane from 85 ° to 120 ° (bevel- down).

Length of the plane: 210 mm

Blade width: 70mm

Variable cutting angle between 85 and 120 °

Weight: 1500gr

Results in a normal cutting angle of 45°.

PM-V11 Steel

PM-V11 steel is made from a new, powder metallurgy steel alloy. With its ultra-fine and homogeneous material structure and extreme hardness (HRC 61-63), this steel has double the edge-retention capacity of A2 steel. The extremely hard-wearing blades allow a razor-sharp edge and are highly durable even at a bevel angle of less than 20°. All blades come with a 2° microbevel and can be sharpened on conventional waterstones.

Compact all-round plane for fine shavings. The mouth opening can be adjusted according to the application, using the configurable shoe (for removing thick or thin shavings). The indentations in the sides make it easier to guide this handy plane accurately. Central setscrew for blade depth and lateral adjustment. Please note: The plane is supplied in two parts (plane body and blade).

Veritas Planes

The corporate philosophy of Canadian tool manufacturer Veritas aims to develop new adjustment mechanisms and enhance historic plane design. With bodies made of stress-relieved spheroidal cast iron, these tools are highly resistant to cracking and distortion. Their soles are perfectly plane and trued at right angles to the sides. Their thick blades of high-strength A2 steel are hardened to 60-62 HRC and additionally subjected to a special low-temperature process to achieve a finer grain. Veritas planes are optionally available with PM-V11 blades. (The Custom series models are equipped with PM-V11 blades as standard). Two setscrews on the sides constrain the blade laterally, keeping it in place regardless of the type of stress applied. Unless otherwise stated, the blade is angled at 45°. With their material combination of finely-ground or black-coated cast iron bodies, polished brass setscrews and beautiful torrefied maple handles, these planes are also pleasing to the eye

Blade material PM-V11™

Blade width 41 mm

Blade thickness 3.2 mm

Overall length 160 mm

Weight 800 g

Blade angle 20 °

Three Japanese products selected to help keep sharp tools and many other precision tools in top condition. The kit consists of a fine quality rubberized abrasive block, 240ml of Camellia oil and a special oil applicator.

Pressed from the seeds of the Camellia tree, this light fragrant oil has been used in far eastern cultures for centuries. This Japanese Camellia Oil is food safe, non-toxic and acid free, making it perfect for protecting hand tools, machine tool beds, kitchen knives and firearms from corrosion. As a finishing oil it is quickly absorbed and will protect your work from ultraviolet light. Camellia oil is non hardening, so it will not provide impact protection, however a light coat will accentuate the grain and enable the surface to take a higher polish. It mixes well with other oils, and even a small amount will significantly improve their ability to penetrate.

The JUUMA Block Plane N. 101 is an indispensable tool for luthiers, designed to fit comfortably in one hand. Featuring a bronze body, brass cap, and adjustment screw, along with carbon steel blades tempered to 61-63 HRC, this block plane is a valuable addition to both our basic and premium plane lines.

Crafted from carefully selected materials, incorporating a proven design, and undergoing precise manufacturing, this compact hand plane is suitable for precision work where standard planes may be too bulky or unwieldy. However, due to its curved sides, it is not intended for edge planing or use with a guide.

With adjustable blade settings, the JUUMA N. 101 Block Plane becomes a reliable companion for luthiers, offering a practical and effective solution for detailed work. Its 88 mm body length, adjustable width from 23 to 32 mm, and a cutting angle of 45° (20° for the blade) make it a versatile and indispensable tool for precision craftsmanship.
